Volta electric did a great job with a complex project where they swapped the electric panel, added grounding and bonding, and prepared the house for a heat pump installation. Serghei and Bodgan were very proficient. Their work was clean and high quality, they were responsive and their pricing was fair and reasonable. All the work passed inspections without any issues. I strongly recommend them. I called them later for other work, and they did an equally good job, so the quality is consistent!

Volta wired my entire new house and did an amazing job, especially on the LED work we did. I am an architect and have worked with numerous contractors including electricians on my projects, and I have to say that Volta is the best by far in terms of communication, knowledge, workmanship and professionalism. I highly recommend them to all my clients.

FAQs

Question

Is my home up to current code?

The only way to know for sure is through a professional inspection. Electrical codes are updated regularly to improve safety and efficiency, so even homes built just 10–15 years ago may need updates. At Volta Electrical, we can assess your system and recommend any upgrades to ensure full code compliance and peace of mind.

Question

What does AFCI & GFCI protection breaker mean?

AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) protects against electrical fires caused by arcing faults—often from damaged wires or loose connections. GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) protects people from electric shock by shutting off power when it detects a ground fault, typically near water (like bathrooms or kitchens). Both are essential for modern electrical safety and required by code in many areas.

Question

What does "grounded" mean?

A grounded circuit has a safe path for excess electricity to travel—usually through a grounding wire connected to the earth. This helps protect you from electric shock and prevents damage by allowing dangerous electrical surges to safely dissipate. A properly grounded home typically includes two 8-foot ground rods connected to the main panel and bonding all metal piping in the house—such as water and gas lines—for full protection.

Question

When should I upgrade my electrical panel?

You should consider upgrading if your panel is over 25 years old, you’re adding high-demand devices (like EV chargers or HVAC systems), or if you notice frequent breaker trips, buzzing sounds, or flickering lights. An upgraded panel ensures safety, supports modern electrical needs, and keeps your home up to code.

Question

Why do I need to hire an electrician?

Hiring a licensed electrician ensures your electrical work is done safely, correctly, and up to code. DIY electrical work can lead to serious hazards like shocks, fires, or code violations. Volta professionals brings the experience, tools, and knowledge to get the job done right the first time.
